IGMS Attends RainbowUp Project Transnational Project Meeting in Vienna, Austria
On 17th and 18th of July 2025, the RainbowUp partners gathered at SCI Austria’s headquarters in Vienna for the second Transnational Project Meeting (TPM). The two-day agenda covered major milestones from the first half of the project, reviewed progress on research activities (WP2), and paved the way for the upcoming development phase of the RainbowApp (WP3).
Advancing the Handbook (WP2)
Each partner presented the findings from their national research, a key step towards finalising the Handbook for Youth Workers. These insights highlighted both shared challenges and examples of good practice across partner countries. The discussion led to a finalised structure for the Handbook, which will guide the design of the training modules and provide a strong content foundation for the RainbowApp.
IGMS, although not required to conduct research, contributed a voluntary overview for Cyprus, which was positively acknowledged by the consortium.
From Research to Action: Preparing the RainbowApp (WP3)
With the groundwork of WP2 nearly complete, attention turned to WP3, the technical development of the RainbowApp led by IGMS. This hybrid mobile application will serve as a central hub for the project’s resources and is scheduled to be available as a native Android app (via the Play Store) and a Progressive Web App (PWA) accessible on iOS and desktop devices.
Planned features include:
- An information library drawing from the Handbook
- Mental health self-help tools with country-specific disclaimers and hotline directories
- Listings of local support services and upcoming events
- Moderated group spaces, forums, and stories designed to be safe and accessible
Several important decisions were taken to ensure safety and sustainability.
Next Steps
IGMS is now finalising the app’s technical specification report and preparing the first functional foundations to be set by the end of 2025. These will be tested internally with all partners before the international pilot phase planned for 2026.
The Vienna meeting confirmed that the RainbowApp remains on track, with clear responsibilities and a shared vision for its impact. By combining the research from WP2 with robust technical design, the project is moving closer to offering youth workers and young people a practical and inclusive digital tool.
